COMIC BOOK ARTIST & COLORIST

Stories drawn
through emotion.

Storytelling and emotion are at the heart of my practice. I use drawing, color and visual rhythm to build worlds, shape characters and create an immediate emotional connection with the reader.

FC Lorient

A la recherche du damier à galons

This was my first full-length comic published in France as an artist, developed with Makma Studio and published by Éditions Ouest-France. It marked an important step in my career, bringing together storytelling, character work and sequential drawing within a long-form project.

L’Éléphant Junior

Scrineo Éditions

For L’Éléphant Junior, I worked primarily as a colorist, while also drawing and coloring two stories published in two separate issues. It was an early opportunity to bring together two sides of my practice — drawing and color — within a professional editorial context.

Makma Studio

I have been collaborating with Makma Studio since 2020. I joined the team as a flatter, preparing flat colors, and within a few months I was entrusted with complete albums to color.

Over time, the collaboration naturally expanded to include my work as a comic artist and storyboard artist, giving me the opportunity to contribute to projects at different stages of their visual development.

What has made this collaboration last is the trust behind it. At Makma, my point of view is valued, I am encouraged to contribute beyond my assigned role, and I have the freedom to be fully myself. For me, that combination of trust, dialogue and creative freedom is essential.

La Boîte à Bulles

This graphic novel was fully developed through the storyboard stage. Before work could move on to final drawing and inking, the original publishing project came to an end.

The project is now looking for a new publishing home. Together with the writer and the protagonist whose story inspired the book, I am now looking for a publisher interested in bringing the project to completion.

Publishers and editors interested in the project are welcome to get in touch →

I mostri dentro

Winner of the Narrazioni Contest · Young Adult · 90–100 pages

I mostri dentro is an autobiographical graphic novel about mental health, identity and self-acceptance. Nica’s anxiety, fear, sadness and past traumas take physical form as grotesque creatures that gradually invade her home and everyday life.

After exhausting herself trying to fight them, she begins therapy and slowly realizes that these “monsters” are not enemies to defeat, but parts of herself to recognize, understand and accept.

The project is fully developed at storyboard and treatment stage. The complete dossier is available in Italian, French and English.

Ornella Centineo

I am a comic artist and colorist working across sequential art, storyboarding, character design and digital color. What interests me most is the point where craft and emotion meet: finding the visual language that makes a story feel alive.

Alongside my professional work, I teach comics to children and young people. I have also taught comics in a juvenile detention centre. In these contexts, comics becomes more than a technique: it can offer a space for expression, imagination and personal exploration.

I have also volunteered with Animenta, translating personal testimonies into images. That experience drew on something central to my practice: listening closely enough to enter someone else’s inner world without taking it over, then finding a visual form that allows them to recognize their own story.

I believe that stories and characters can make our inner worlds visible — the dreams, fears and hidden depths we carry within us. Giving those worlds a form through images and narrative can create a profound sense of freedom and lightness.

Creating stories means giving a visible form to the worlds we carry inside us.
